Paris CDG airport

Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) is the main hub for Air France and the largest airport in France. The airport has platforms for both the RER express train to central Paris and the high-speed TGV trains that connect major cities across France. The RER has two stations at the airport: Terminal 1 station (Aéroport CDG1) and Terminal 2 station (Aéroport CDG2-TGV). The TGV only stops at Aéroport CDG2-TGV. All terminals are connected by the free airport shuttle train called CDGVAL.

The RER connects the airport to Gare du Nord, located in central Paris, in about 30 minutes. Trains run every 10 minutes, and you can conveniently transfer to the Paris Métro at Gare du Nord for access to the rest of the city. Nearly half of the RER trains between the airport and Gare du Nord operate non-stop. Both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 have RER stations, linked by the CDGVAL shuttle system. Tickets should be purchased at the ticket machines, and passengers must pass through ticket gates before boarding.

High-Speed train TGV connecting cities across France

The TGV, France’s high-speed train, connects Paris CDG Airport with major cities across the country such as Lyon, Lille, and Marseille. The TGV station is located at Terminal 2, adjacent to the RER platform. Passengers coming from other terminals should use CDGVAL, the airport’s free shuttle train. TGV trains departing from CDG Airport are often crowded, so it is highly recommended to book your ticket in advance.
